I’ve been itching to get out and ride a Kawasaki KLX300 ever since they were first announced, and thanks to the Kawasaki Good Times Tour demo truck, I was finally able to swing my leg over one and do a Kawasaki KLX300SM test ride and first impressions video for you. This is not only my first time ever riding the KLX 300, but it’s also my first ever time on a supermoto. Overall, I was pretty impressed with this new Kawasaki dual sport. I felt like it had great, manageable power that would work very well in the city or in the woods, but when I got it out and up to highway speeds, I was really impressed with the way it pulled and had plenty of usable power in 6th gear at 60+. I even managed to get the KLX300 up to 70 plus miles per hour, which is way better than my old CRF250l was ever able to manage.

Along the way, I talk about the pros and cons of the bike, how it does on the highway, potential uses, whether or not the KLX300SM or KLX300 might be a good first motorcycle, and then I spend some time doing a Kawasaki KLX300 vs Suzuki DRZ400 comparison. I currently own and ride a Suzuki DRZ400S and I have been wondering how the KLX 300 compares and whether or not it might be worth moving from the DRZ400 to the KLX300. Ultimately, while the KLX is awesome and impressive, I don’t feel like it’s an upgrade from my DRZ, so I personally don’t see any reason to move over, at least not right now.
